Renee Saltiel and Solon Molho grew up in the greatest Sephardic Jewish community of them all, Salonika, or Thessaloniki, in today’s Greece. 90,000 Jews lived there then; by the time the Germans had rounded up the city’s Jews during the Second World War, almost none were left. Only a handful returned. This is the story of two Jews who did manage to survive, thanks to a Spanish diplomat and some very brave Greek families.

Renee Saltiel y Solon Molho crecieron en la mayor comunidad judía sefardí, Salónica o Tesalónica, como se la llama en  Grecia hoy. 90.000 judíos vivían allí entonces, en el momento en que los alemanes detuvieron a todos los judíos de la ciudad durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, casi ninguno se fue. Sólo un puñado regresó. Esta es la historia de dos judíos, que se las arreglaron para sobrevivir, gracias a un diplomático español y algunas familias griegas muy valientes.
