Tel Aviv’s 8th Annual Oud Festival Aug. 24 – 28. 2010 at Tsavta Theater in the heart of Tel Aviv. Nick-named “King of Musical Instruments” the oud’s origins hail from ancient Persia.
The oud has since become a central instrument in Asian and Middle Eastern traditions.
The oud is also common in Palestinian and Jewish traditions and is celebrated at the Tel-Aviv Oud Festival as a bridge for an inter-ethnic musical dialogue.
The 8th Annual Oud Festival of Tel Aviv features headliners and collaborations that have not yet been seen on stage, Gala performances & releases of new Cds.
Over the course of its history, the Tel Aviv Oud Festival has featured over 30 oud players long with singers and ensembles from various Mediterranean cultures.

Tuesday, Aug 24, 9 pm: Bukharan Groove: The Alayev family – a 3 generation musical dynasty including percussion, vocals oud, and accordion.
Wed., Aug. 25, 9 pm: Sounds of the Oud: The legendary ensemble that received its first major exposure in Tel-Aviv’s open-air market.
Thurs, Aug. 26, 9 pm: Rembetica and Ladino Songs from Thessaloniki: The Red Flower Ensemble & guests from Greece.
Saturday, Aug. 28, 9 pm: Chai in Tel Aviv – From the Bosphorous to the Tigris. The Rust Ensemble. Yinon Mualem & guests from Turkey & Israel.
Tuesday, Aug. 24, 7 pm: The King of Instruments: Masterclass with virtuoso oud player Yoel Ben-Simhon.
