Dia de Ladino en Dallas
El 12 de enero de las 2 asta las 3:30 tuvimos el Dia Internasional de Ladino en Dallas. Tuvimos 120 personas en atendensia.
Todos mos felisitaron (a mi i mi amiga Dina ke me ayudo) por el enteresante program. Aki vos meto en basho el program.
Teniamos un program tan yeno ke fue despues ke vinimos a kaza ke me akodri ke no meldimos una koza muy emportante: el mesaj de saludos del Sr. Meir Shelomo, konsulado Israeli en Houston, ke lo avia invitado, ma no pudo venir. Vo lo meto aki en basho tambien.
Dina Eliezer meldo un kuentiziko «Nasreddin Hodja» de un livriko en letras rashis «La Vida de Nasreddin Hodja» ke topo entre los livros viejos ke eya salvo de la geniza en Izmir. (Eya fue a Izmir 5 enveranos para alimpiar, organizar, katalogar, i salvar los livros antigos ke estavan neglijados (pudriendosen) en la koleksion de la komunita, i en la geniza tambien.) Raquel Pomeranz Gershon, mujer del rabino Gershon aki, mos kanto dos kantikas, i tambien le kantimos «munchos anyos» a Dina ke era su aniversaryo. Raquel es Ashkenazi, ma se engrandesyo en Seattle entre munchos sefaradim, i le agrada kantar kantikas sefaradis en su repertoire. Eya tanye, kanta, i kompoza kantikas djudias.
Fue ermozo tener djente de varios grupos etnikos en la audiensa: turkos (non-djudios), «hispanos» de Meksiko i Texas (algunos de rais de konversos), munchos djudios ashkenazis, i los pokos sefaradis de Dallas inkluyendo mis amigos de Maroko, Ruben i Estreya Benjio, ke se alegraron ke avli un poko de Haketia. I siguro las «grandes damas» ke onorimos: Edith Baker, i Alegre Tevet ke son amigas de LK .
A la salida ofresimos borekitas, baklava, uvas i bevientes. Alegre mos izo sus maravioza borekitas, yo ize baklavas, i Edith mos trusho la fruta.

President of the National Authority of Ladino and its Culture
Fifth President of the State of Israel
Dear Friends of Ladino in Dallas,
It is with great pleasure that I send you the greetings of the National Authority of Ladino on the occasion of the International Day of Ladino which you are celebrating now. This is a good occasion to demonstrate our bond to our ancestor, and also of your firm resolve to preserve it and transmit it to future generations.
The National Authority of Ladino, created in 1997 with a law of the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, is in the forefront of the efforts to ensure the future of Ladino and its cultural creativity. Together with universities, associations, and groups of volunteers that are active in the various parts of the country, we are working on many projects: university courses, courses for adults, academic conferences and seminars, concerts, lectures, concerts, lectures, and Internet discussion groups – a series of activities that give us hope that Ladino will continue to be a living language for many years to come.
I am happy to see that in addition to this meeting in Dallas, the International Day of Ladino has already been celebrated in other places as well; first in Israel, and then in many Sephardic communities in the United States, Latin America, and Europe.
This allows us to hope that as a consequence of the interest that is awakened in this International Day of Ladino, next year we will be able to celebrate it in many more places. As we say in Ladino, “kada anyo mijorado, siempre mijor, nunka peor” [every year better, may it always be better, never worse] Bless God each day, Amen. [A phrase in Hebrew that ends the Ladino saying.]
