CALL FOR PAPERS
Prior to April 26, 2013
The American Sephardi Federation is currently soliciting general interest papers on the history of Jewish life in Morocco, for inclusion in its magazine, The Sephardi Report, the annual full-color hard copy publication of the organization. The areas of interest desired include the life cycle of Jews, political process which have involved the Jewish community, settlement and existence, Jewish art and music, family/social issues relating to the Jews (i.e. marriage, divorce, etc.), great religious leaders of the Jews in Morocco, inter-action between Jews and Muslims, etc., and other topics relating to Jewish life in Morocco. While The Sephardi Report is a non-refereed publication, our standards remain high and insomuch we are interested in papers which have been previously unpublished.
Please send a 200 word synopsis of your previously unpublished paper via email to Mr. Shelomo Alfassa (salfassa@gmail.com) for consideration, prior to April 26, 2013.
Final papers should be between ~1,000 and ~4,000 words. Papers will be chosen by the ASF and authors notified the week of May 1, 2013. Final papers must be submitted to ASF by May 13th, in MS Word format, with Chicago, APA or MLA style notes and bibliography. All papers must be submitted in English. Authors whose native language is not English must arrange editing of their articles by a professional translator or a native English speaker prior to submission. Articles with serious language flaws cannot be accepted for review and will be returned to the authors for further editing.
Authors of approved articles will be required to sign a release form providing the ASF with permission to publish their paper, and stating that the paper had not been published previously. Although ASF will publish the papers, the copyright will stay with the original authors.
The American Sephardi Federation, partner at the Center for Jewish History in New York City, was founded in 1973. The organization strives to promote and preserve the spiritual, historical, cultural and social traditions of all Sephardic communities as an integral part of Jewish heritage.
