‘Flory’s Flame’ Celebrates Sephardic Music – 3 Dic 2016

On Dec. 3, University of Hartford will present an evening dedicated to Sephardic Jewish music, with a film screening and a concert.

The documentary «Flory’s Flame» tells the story of Flory Jagoda, who is famous worldwide as «The Keeper of the Flame» of Sephardic music. Jagoda, raised in Bosnia and Croatia, fled to America during World War II. She sings in Ladino, the language of Jews from Spain and Portugal.

After the film, West Hartford native Susan Feltman Gaeta, a protégée of Jagoda, will perform a concert of Sephardic music on guitar and vocals.

The evening’s entertainment, presented by The Maurice Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies at the university and Congregation Beth Ahm of Windsor, will begin at 7 p.m. at Wilde Auditorium on the campus at 200 Bloomfield Ave. in West Hartford.
