We invite you to the University of Washington Sephardic Studies Program’s 11th Annual Ladino Day program featuring novelist Elizabeth Graver, author of Kantika, A Sephardic Novel. The program will take place via Zoom on Sunday, December 3 at10 am PT/ 1 pm ET/ 8 pm Israel/ 9 pm Turkey.
We will have the pleasure of being in conversation with Elizabeth Graver about her new novel, which delves into the themes of displacement, resilience, family, disability, and so much more. Selected as The New York Times Editor’s Choice staff pick this past spring, Kantika (meaning ‘song’ in Ladino) follows the journey of Graver’s Turkish Jewish grandmother from Istanbul to Barcelona to Havana and ultimately New York in the early twentieth century.
