Karen Gerson Sarhon was awarded the medal of «Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres» by the French Ministry of Culture at the Palais de France in Istanbul on 10 Dec 2011.

She was awarded the medal for her work on the preservation of the Judeo-Spanish language and the Turkish-Sephardic culture.
