I am inviting you to a presentation and book signing on May 20 from 7 to 9 pm, celebrating the publication of my new book, The Sephardic Jews of Spain and Portugal: Survival of an Imperiled Culture in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries.
It is particularly appropriate that the event will be at Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel in West Los Angeles, whose congregation includes descendants of the remarkable culture that I write about. Their ancestors who were expelled from Spain in 1492 and are the subjects of my book. King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia paid a good will visit to the temple in 1987, inviting them to Spain for the then upcoming quincentennial observation in 1992.
We are calling the evening’s events «Homage to a Resourceful and Resilient People.» The attached flyer describes the cultural events planned and provides the address and other information.
Copies of The Sephardic Jews of Spain and Portugal will also be available. Hoping to greet you on May 20 at Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel.
It’s at 10500 Wilshire Blvd., between Westwood and Beverly Glen, two blocks West of Beverly Glen on the SW corner of Wilshire and Warner. There is underground parking. Enter for parking on Warner. The Spanish Deputy Consul and his wife will attend.
Other officials will be there. In all, a remarkable event.
Looking forward to greeting you.
