OUT OF SPAIN: the multi-media learning program for children in Hebrew and Jewish Day schools, is now offering lesson plans and ideas to help provide a Sephardic focus that can broaden the traditional activities for the festivals.
These can be found on its new Facebook website (Facebook.com/outofspain). The first of this series was posted in time for the Hanukkah festivities and consists of two separate postings – one focused on music and the other on Sephardic foods.
This set, consisting of three class workbook/textbooks, a teacher guide, a music CD and a DVD starring Theodore Bikel, is suitable for students aged 12 years and above.
It has also been used for adult education; and more recently for classes where conversos who have returned to the Jewish world, can learn about their own history. It covers converso issues in a number of its lessons.
