Kohen-Yanarocak family, Istanbul, 1989 – Rachel Amado Bortnick

This video is from my visit with the Kohen-Yanarocak family in Istanbul on October 1, 1989, at the home of Sara and David Yanarocak and their children Soni and Hay. Mr. Siyon Kohen, David’s father, now of blessed memory, had been my pen-pal as I had started corresponding with him in Ladino in 1984, as an admirer of his writings and poetry in Ladino in the Şalom Jewish weekly newspaper from Istanbul. As I remember, first I met him and his wife Korin at their home, and together we went to David’s house. I am so glad I took my video camera with me!
