Haquitia:
Haqhitia is a dialect brought by Sephardic-Moroccan immigrants to the Amazon, at the beginning of the 19th century, that is, more than 200 years ago.
Originating from a mix of djudeo – español, hebrew and arabic, it is almost entirely oral speaking, with very few written records.
It is spoken in the family, on a daily basis and on special occasions.
Over time, only a few families still know few expressions, words and phrases.
Amazônia Judaica, at the initiative of Dr. Sergio Benchimol and with the support of countless companies, entities and people, is launching the ZEJÚT ABOT – FESTIVAL DE HAQUITIA .
It is a contest in the haquetia dialect, which is attended by people from various Sephardic-Moroccan communities around the world.
About the contest and its rules:
- Participants can compete with texts or short videos (1.5 minutes)
- Content can be any genre of text, speech, theatrical performance or musical performance
- The content can be produced, totally or partially, in haquitia.
Deadlines:
- Material dispatch: Until 05/15/2021
- Disclosure of results and awards: 07/24/2021

- 1st. Place: Collection of prints by renowned artist Donna Benchimol; medal and certificate of participation
- 2nd. Place Pair of Rayban sunglasses; medal and certificate of participation
- 3rd. Place: Medal and certificate of participation
