The symposium will feature high caliber intellectuals and academics who will address the Sephardim and Mizrahim’s rich and thriving cultures of medieval Spain and the Maghreb. Speakers will expose the fundamentals of the «Convivencia» in Al-Andalus where for centuries Muslims, Jews and Christians lived together and created a culture of tolerance and prosperity that became the leading cultural center of Europe. Professor Joyce Zonana, English at Borough of Manhattan Community College, City University of New York. «Chez les Arabes: Growing Up Egyptian Jewish in Brooklyn.»
