Lanzamiento de un nuevo libro: "Desde Kabul a Queens" (From Kabul to Queens)

La American Sephardi Federation (ASF) lanzará e próximo 3 de noviembre a las 6:30pm un nuevo libro: «Desde Kabul a Queens: Los judíos de Afganistán y su traslado a los Estados Unidos» (From Kabul to Queens: The Jews of Afghanistan and Their Move to the United States) de Sara Aharon, quien es graduada en Brandeis University.

El libro detalla la historia de una pequeña comunidad judía viviendo en relativa paz con sus vecinos Musulmanes Sunni Muslim.

Sara Aharon captura un doloroso capítulo de la historia contemporánea social judía en su interpretación de los judios afganos en transición, y las experiencias de los Judios de Afganistán por sus éxitos y sus luchas en la reconstrucción de una nueva vida en los EE.UU. y en la sociedad judía estadounidense.

The American Sephardi Federation (ASF) will be holding a book launch on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 6:30pm for the new book: From Kabul to Queens: The Jews of Afghanistan and Their Move to the United States. This book was authored by Sara Aharon, a graduate of Brandeis University.

The book details the story of a small Jewish community that lived in relative peace with its Sunni Muslim neighbors. Sara Aharon captures a poignant chapter of contemporary Jewish social history in her portrayal of Afghan Jews in transition, and bridges the experiences of these Jews in Afghanistan to their successes and struggles in rebuilding a new life in the U.S. and among American Jewish society.
