In this seccion, a few of the many famous Sephardic Jews who have positively contributed to the world we live in. From rabbis to doctors and actors to poets, these Sephardic Jews have changed the direction and intensity of both the Jewish and Western World.

Moshe Katzav
Moshe Katzav is a sephardic jew, and the second president of Israel (2000–2007) who is from a Sephardic background. Born in Iran. Mr Katsav’s family lived in one of the rudimentary «transit camps» which were set up for immigrants after the 1948 war. He grew up in Kiryat Malachi, one of the new towns on Israel’s periphery which were populated mainly by immigrants and plagued by unemployment, social problems and government neglect.
He was elected in the first round by the majority of the Israeli Knesset. He election was a great surprise. Katzav, an experienced politician and a popular one, decided to take the chance against an internationally acclaimed Israeli politician and statesman: Shimon Peres. Many objected to Peres because of his role in the Oslo Accords, but Peres is an ‘institution’ in the history of Israel since he was at the age of 26, the ‘Boss’ of Israeli Defense Ministry. “Moshe Katzav will honor the Israeli presidency with a new spirit and style. He loves the common man. He is modest. He expresses the beauty of the Israeli people in his personality. Katzav radiates peace and love for everyone. His way of life is always to achieve solutions by compromises,” remarked Israel’s Yitzhak Shamir.

Moshe Katzav, nacido en Irán, es de origen sefaradí, y el segundo presidente de Israel (2000-2007) que es de este origen. La familia de Katsav vivía en uno de los rudimentarios «campamentos de tránsito» que se instalaron para los inmigrantes después de la guerra de 1948. Creció en Kiryat Malachi, una de las nuevas ciudades de la periferia de Israel, pobladas principalmente por inmigrantes y plagadas de desempleo, problemas sociales y negligencia del gobierno.
Fue elegido en la primera vuelta por la mayoría de la Knesset israelí. La elección fue una gran sorpresa. Katzav, un político experimentado y popular, decidió tomar la oportunidad contra un político y un estadista israelí internacionalmente aclamado: Shimon Peres. Muchos se opusieron a Peres por su papel en los Acuerdos de Oslo, pero Peres era una «institución» en la historia de Israel desde que tenía 26 años y fue «Jefe» del Ministerio de Defensa israelí.
